India to host IPL2

Indian Premier League 20-20 cricket match series was started last year by the Board of Control for Cricket in India I.e, BCCI. With the grand success for the new cricket format, has now forced the BCCI to go ahead and plan for IPL2 series of cricket matches in the month of May and June 2009.

The IPL2 20-20 matches are watches by millions of cricket lovers from across the globe, primarily due to the lovely format. There are over eight teams fighting for the cup and each team has around four foreign (non-Indian) players. So you can see an Australian spinner PLUS a South African pace bower PLUS two Sri Lankan batsmen in a team.

And from the viewers point, you will be enjoying nearly three hours of cricket with decisive result and nail biting turning points every few minutes.

With the general elections set to happen across India in May 2009, the central government and also many state governments are expected to refuse security for the cricket teams.

Still the kind of money that BCCI will make by conducting the thriller IPL2 series is massive enough to proceed with their plan.

Thus there is a strong possibility of the IPL2 series to be delayed beyond June 2009, which might lead to lot of financial loss for BCCI and the sponsor companies.

In a worst case scenario, the BCCI might still go ahead with the matches in May and June 2009, and play them in some other country altogether.
