Olympics 2016 in Rio De Janeiro
The Olympics has been hosted only in developed countries till last decade, and China was successful in breaking that rule by hosting the Olympics few years back. Now Rio De Janeiro has become the first South American country to host the Olympics, when it bagged the deal for 2016 Olympic games.
The deal is expected to help Brazil to spur the domestic economy, because many new stadiums, roads, bridges and townships have to be constructed. And there will also be many new hotel constructions around the Olympic cities / towns. All these could spell great local demand spike up for cement, steel, electronic items, security products, furniture items etc., But all these could involve billions of dollars of new loans for Brazil with a fairly assured return in the year 2016. There could be massive influx of foreign travelers to Brazil , who also will be helping in the local economic recovery. Brazil getting the Olympics deal also is spelled a failure for Obama administration.
