Current Population Survey

Current population survey is a joint venture by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Census Bureau. They conduct survey of around 50,000 households every month. They have been doing such studies for the past 50 years.

The Current Population Survey is the base source of information on labor statistics and are used by legislators and lawmakers as indicators to plan different welfare programs and their evaluation. They reflect the nation’s economic situation.

The various parameters on which the surveys are conducted include unemployment, income groups, hours of work etc. The data is collected by drawing demographic characteristic like age , sex, educational qualification, race, marital status, family dependents, occupation, industry etc.

The survey studies are also used by students, academics, and general public.
